World News: Nigeria

Nigeria 'attempted jailbreak' leaves more than 20 dead

Boko Haram attacks have increased during the new year of 2014.  This BBC news story tells of the fire that prison guards at a facility in Abuja opened after only one prisoner tried to escape.  This one prisoner attempted to beat a guard with his handcuffs in an attempt to escape then the guards opened fire in the outside and inside of the prison.  Twenty-one people were killed unnecessarily and suspicions are arising.  Some think that the guards were part of the Boko Haram Islamist group.  Moreover, many are afraid that the human rights violations that the government is allowing will lead more people to become recruits for the Boko Haram terrorists group.
