recounts the events that happened on Thursday: Tunisia’s President Moncef
Marzouki lifted the state of emergency that was imposed by President Zine El Abidine
Ben Ali in January 2011. This
state of emergency was issued due to the fact that after a popular revolution,
Tunisia started battling al-Qaida linked and other extremist activities. It didn’t help that an Islamic party was
in power, and it got to a point where soldiers had to be brought in to patrol
the streets of Tunisia, and intervene when any disorder arose. Fortunately they have increased their
security and are no longer dealing with a lot of terrorist problems now, thus
the reason why the state of emergency was lifted. Tunisians are happy that the state of emergency got lifted
and the Tunisian government is now trying to get their economy back to where it
used to be. Tunisia had a thriving
tourist industry that brought people from all around the world to the Mediterranean
Sea and they are hoping that tourist will once again start coming to Tunisia.
