3 Venezuelan generals arrested, accused of coup plot.
As political tensions in Venezuela continue to mount, a
commission of South American foreign ministers visited President Nicolas Maduro
and he disclosed that he had arrested three of his generals. Maduro says that the generals were trying to
turn the air force against the government.
He said that he found out that they had direct ties to that opposition
groups and were planning a coup. In an
exclusive interview with CNN’s Christiane Amanpour, Maduro seemed very
unapologetic for he government’s response to the Venezuelan protestors even
though the government forces have left about 36 people dead. Of course this left several people upset,
especially in the United States, but Maduro tried to get people to see his
perspective by paralleling the events that are happening in Venezuela to what
could arise in other countries and he begs people to understand that they too
would react similar to him.
